Food and water for only 7% of people in the world, and what about the rest?
If you have your own house, eat 3 to 6 full meals a day and drink clean water, have a mobile phone and study, then you belong to the global elite category of 7% of the world's population. According to research by the multinational TV Animal Planet, the current population of the Earth is about 7.8 billion inhabitants. For most people, that's a big number and that's about it. However, in a percentage sense, we can see it in a more accessible dimension, through statistics. Of the total mentioned, 11% of the inhabitants live in Europe, 5% in North America, 9% are in South America, 15% are in Africa, while 60% live in Asia. Of this population, 49% live in the countryside, 51% in the city. Also, 12% speak Chinese, 5% speak Spanish, 5% English, 3% Arabic, 3% speak Hindi, 3% Bengali, 3% speak Portuguese, 2% speak Russian, 2% Japanese, 62% speak their mother tongue. Of the 7.8 billion inhabitants, 77% own or rent a house, while 23% have nowhere to live. 21% consume more calories than necessary, 63% can eat three full meals, 15% are malnourished, ate one meal but did not go to the next. 48% of daily costs are less than US$2.00. Other data are also listed: 87% have clean drinking water, 13% do not have proper drinking water or only have access to a contaminated water source.
